I agree with “sew unhappy” but in my case it is the arts and craft folks that are unhappy, too. Nowhere in Meridian can we purchase the supplies we need for arts and crafts now that Walmart has also eliminated that from their stock. The Decorator Center is closed so that’s it. Why can we get nothing but clothing stores and restaurants in Meridian? Once I heard that Michael’s was coming to the new set of stores in the old K-mart area but then it seems to have disappeared off the radar. No more mention of it has been forthcoming. Meridian keeps advertising itself as a “retirement community” but guess what, folks. A lot of retirees as well as younger people love to do crafts. Now we have to drive to Tuscaloosa or Hattiesburg to find a Hobby Lobby or Michael’s or either we have to order online all our supplies. We need some variety in Meridian.

Here’s my view!
I spoke at the last Meridian City Council meeting concerning pay for city employees. My intent was to inform the council that many city employees are not being paid equitable salaries. The clerk of the council and other city employees deserve to be paid a competitive salary.
