I decided to write this letter while there is some resemblance of the right to freedom of speech still left. How much green ($$$) is green going to cost us? I heard a report that a power company, located in the North, is going to purchase these highly efficient pigtail florescent light bulbs sell them to their customers at a presumably reasonable price (marked up, of course). This power company would allow the customers to pay for these bulbs at $.50 per month to be included in their monthly power bills. However, because these bulbs are so efficient, this power company will not make as much money. (HERE IT COMES!) This power company is going to add a surcharge to compensate for their lower income! (HERE IT COMES, AGAIN!) Even if you do not purchase these bulbs, (guess what?) you will still have to pay the surcharge! At this time I would like to remind everyone of the outcry about these bulbs. Save the planet (from the greenhouse effect, global warming) and LOWER your energy cost! Watch your wallets!

Here’s my view!
I spoke at the last Meridian City Council meeting concerning pay for city employees. My intent was to inform the council that many city employees are not being paid equitable salaries. The clerk of the council and other city employees deserve to be paid a competitive salary.
