On behalf of the Board of Directors of Mississippi Junior Miss, I'd like to express our gratitude to the many people responsible for our successful Junior Miss Week. We could not operate or have such a program without the dedication and devotion of hundreds of volunteers that spend countless hours making everything work. Our deepest thanks go to our sponsors which provide scholarship money to the contestants, because after all, that is what we are about.
We had several party sponsors this year who provided fun, evening activities for the contestants. They provided a relaxing break from the stress and strain of rehearsals. Our host families opened their homes to the contestants and formed lasting relationships with them.
Many of our volunteers take a week of vacation from their jobs so they can be here all week and provide transportation for the contestants.
Beyond those named above, we have the entire body of the Board of Directors and the Regional Directors of Mississippi Junior Miss who work year around to make all of this happen this week. In addition to our State body, we have many local chairmen with their committees from throughout the state that also work year long and hold their programs to select their representative to send to the state program.
We owe gratitude to the local media for their coverage of our program and for getting the word out to the public what we stand for and what we are. Special thanks to the Boys & Girls club for sharing with us a special community activity that was truly a highlight of the week for the contestants. Those friendships will endure forever. We must especially thank the people of Meridian and Lauderdale county for
supporting us and helping keep this event in Meridian.
The principles of Junior Miss include scholarship and making each young woman in the program achieve their potential by being their best self. It is a principle by which we all could live. Thanks to all for the unwavering support and we look forward to being even bigger and better in the future.
