As someone who has been on the green box service and now curb service, first of all, the trash collector will underbid a contract to get the contract and later increase price.
They only pick up what is in that small container, not what's around it. If you clean out your garage, or your child's room when they leave the nest, or just a spring cleaning, let alone weekend projects — all that will not fit in your container. You will have to haul it to the Lauderdale County Landfill of which there is a hefty price. Animals tear into canisters, rodents thrive around and the haulers will strew yours and your neighbors' garbage up and down the street. They don't close the tailgate. Do you really want this? Remember the problems that Eagle Point had with their new service. Just say no. It works well in the past just because there are only two counties in the state is not the right thing to do. If all your neighbors jumped off a cliff, would you?

Here’s my view!
I spoke at the last Meridian City Council meeting concerning pay for city employees. My intent was to inform the council that many city employees are not being paid equitable salaries. The clerk of the council and other city employees deserve to be paid a competitive salary.
