Decatur Women’s Progressive Club
The importance of recycling was the emphasis of a program presented by Candy Babson at the November meeting of the Decatur Woman's Progressive Club. The club met in the fellowship hall of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church.
Conservation and Beautification Chairman Candy Babson explained the necessity for recycling, as well as the importance of participating in projects and organizations dedicated to keeping the landscape clean and litter free.
President Theresa Buntyn called the meeting to order. Meditation was provided by Tonia Cocker.
New members Tammi Addy and Candie Thrash were recognized. Buntyn recapped the contributions made by the club to the local community and also to state projects. She emphasized the need for fund raising in order to support projects sponsored by the organization. Jeanette Thrash was named chairman of the Fund Raising Committee and was asked to begin the task of organizing the projects.
The club voted to donate 20 Rapid Deployment Kits sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ International. Marie Spence read a letter that was being sent to all of the VA nursing homes in Mississippi.
Jeanette Thrash announced that the Christmas Party at East Mississippi State Hospital will be held on Dec. 8.
Hostesses for the meeting were Mary Cullum, Felicia Smith and Glenda Weaver.
The meeting adjourned with the December meeting scheduled for Dec. 1.

NEW YORK (AP) — Oil prices continued their two-week slide on Wednesday after a government report showed demand for crude products dropped even further from the weak levels of a year ago when the recession's grip on the economy was strongest.
