Jan Mitchell Salkeld of Meridian announces the engagement of her daughter, Kristin Anne, to Steven Matthew Mercado, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Mercado of Meridian.
The wedding will be Friday, May 22, 2009, at 7 p.m. at NorthRiver Yacht Club.
Miss Salkeld is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blake Mitchell and the late Robert Key, all of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cheney Salkeld of Brielle, N.J.
The bride-elect is a graduate of the University of West Alabama and Southeast Lauderdale High School.
Miss Salkeld is employed by the University of Alabama.
Mr. Mercado is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jose A. Mercado and Mr. and Mrs. Chalmer Kentner, all of Lawton, Okla.
The bridegroom-elect currently attends the University of Alabama College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Sickles High School.
Mr. Mercado is employed by the Alabama Air National Guard.
A reception will be held at NorthRiver Yacht Club.
