Rick and Linda Cavenaugh of Chunky announce the engagement of their daughter, Joy Kristina, to Brooks William Scott, son of Michael James and the late Jennifer James of Clara.
The wedding will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 3 p.m. at University Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.
Miss Cavenaugh is the granddaughter of Walter F. and Imogene Bray of Chunky, the late Alton L. Cavenaugh of Chunky, the late Evelyn Hull of Laughlin, Nev., and Lynn Cavenaugh of Chunky.
The bride-elect received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from William Carey College. She is a 2004 graduate of Newton County High School.
While attending William Carey, she was a member of the fast pitch softball team and made The President’s List.
Miss Cavenaugh is presently a pre-med student at William Carey.
Mr. Scott is the grandson of Elbert James and the late Ann James of Clara, and the late Tillden and Noreen Miller of Tulsa, Okla.
The bridegroom-elect is scheduled to graduate from William Carey College in May with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He is a 2000 graduate of Wayne Academy.
Mr. Scott is employed by YMCA in Hattiesburg.
A reception will be held at Ramada Inn on the Hill.
Formal invitations will be sent to out-of-town guests only.
The couple will leave for Daegu, South Korea, for a year to teach conversational English and to do mission work. Upon their return, the couple will reside in Hattiesburg.
