Thurman and Dinah Rogers of Chunky announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Lindsey Rogers, to Joshua Kenneth Lang, son of the Rev. Kenny and Teresa Lang of Lake.
The wedding will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Rogers.
Miss Rogers is the granddaughter of Janet Rogers of Chunky and the late Elliott Rogers and Hazel Mabry of Quitman and the late Hulon “Buddy” Mabry.
The bride-elect is a graduate of East Central Community College, where she received associate of applied science degrees in business office technology, medical office technology and medical billing and coding technology. She is a home school graduate of Meridian Christian Home Educators.
While attending ECCC, she was a member of Phi-Theta Kappa honor society, served as a state officer for Phi Beta Lambda, and was listed on the National Dean's List and "Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges." She is a member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Miss Rogers is employed by Newton County Bank.
Mr. Lang is the grandson of Rudolph and Maybeth Lang of Lake and Dillard and Pauline Crosby of Lake. He is the great-grandson of Vera Shoemaker of Lake.
The bridegroom-elect is a home school graduate of Christian Liberty Academy. He is currently attending East Central Community College, where he is pursuing a degree in electrical technology.
At ECCC, he is a member of Skills USA.
Mr. Lang is employed by Robinson Electric Supply in Forest and is an interim pastor at Redtop Union Baptist Church in Forest.
A reception will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Rogers.
