Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Barnes Ammons of Ridgeland announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia Mitchell, to David Matthew Walters Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. David Matthew Walters of Birmingham, Ala.
The wedding will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson.
Miss Ammons is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Flournoy Goodman Jr. of Jackson and Mrs. John Billy Ammons and the late Mr. Ammons of Meridian.
Mr. Walters is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Murphy Walters of Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Lee McGriff of Birmingham and the late Mr. McGriff.
The bride-elect obtained a bachelor of arts degree in journalism with a minor in English from the University of Mississippi, where she was a cum laude graduate. She graduated from Jackson Preparatory School in 2000, where she was a member of the Cum Laude Society and a cheerleader.
While at Ole Miss, Miss Ammons was a Chancellor’s List and Dean’s List scholar. The bride-elect was presented by the Debutante Club of Mississippi.
Miss Ammons is currently director of marketing for The Washington Design Center in Washington, D.C.
The bridegroom-elect was awarded a bachelor of science degree in physics and a minor in history from the University of the South. He is a 2000 graduate of the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he served as captain of the football team.
While at Sewanee, he served as president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was a member of the Order of the Gownsmen and the Green Ribbon Society. Mr. Walters received his master of mechanical engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University.
He is currently a senior engineer for Pace Global Energy Services.
