Randy and Wynell Estes of Little Rock Mr. Lamar Tyson Jr. of Butler, Ala. announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Lynn Tyson, to Jarrod Blake Scoggin, son of Clint and Tanya Scoggin of Decatur.
The wedding will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at 5 p.m., at Dixie United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg.
Miss Tyson is the granddaughter of Annie Deloris Loftis and the late Charles McAllister Loftis of Butler and Harry and Greta Tyson of Toxey, Ala.
The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor of science degree in speech/language pathology, and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in speech/language pathology. She is a 2004 graduate of Newton County High School.
Mr. Scoggin is the grandson of Patrick Wells and the late Sylvia Wells of Little Rock and Mary Ann Willis and the late Tommy Scoggin of Decatur.
The bridegroom-elect is a 2005 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. with a bachelor of science degree in business management, and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in aeronautical sciences. He is a 2001 graduate of Newton County High School.
Mr. Scoggin is a captain in the U.S. Air Force and a C-17 pilot. He is stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, where he and Amber will reside.
A reception will be held at Big Creek Lodge in Hattiesburg.
