Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hull of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Kara Whitney, to Jonathan Eric Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Owen of Enterprise.
The wedding will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at 6 p.m., at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Miss Hull is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Burton of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. Olen N. Hull of Chunky.
The bride-elect received a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a graduate of Northeast High School.
While attending USM, she was a member of Diamond Darlings for the Southern Miss Golden Eagle baseball team.
Miss Hull has been accepted into occupational therapy school at the University of South Alabama, where she will complete her master’s degree.
Mr. Owen is the grandson of the Rev. and Mrs. Hollis Howell of Lucedale and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Owen of Enterprise.
The bridegroom-elect attended Mississippi State University for computer engineering and will complete his bachelor of science degree in computer engineering at the University of South Alabama. He is a graduate of Enterprise High School.
While attending MSU, he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and IEEE. He was also a participant in the Co-op program and worked for Diversified Technology INC in Jackson.
A reception will be held in the fellowship hall immediately following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
