Outraged at comment by state
representative
Mississippi House Representative Steve Palazzo should apologize for his offensive and demeaning comments about unemployed workers in Mississippi.
In an interview with Carl Gibson of Mississippi Public Broadcasting last week, Representative Palazzo said Mississippi families should not receive the $56.1 million from the federal government because the state “doesn’t want people lingering at home.” Representative Palazzo furthered stated that “if you lose a job, just go out and find another job. There’s jobs out there’ you’ve just got to be willing to work.”
With Mississippi facing the greatest recession since the Great Depression and Mississippi workers facing the highest unemployment rate in decades, I am outraged that House Republicans are so out of touch with reality that they think unemployed workers are unwilling to work. Since the beginning of the recession, Mississippi has lost nearly 75,000 jobs. To suggest these workers are so lazy to find work is reprehensible.
Not only should Rep. Palazzo apologize, he should also support the changes necessary to accept $56 million from the federal government that would help more than 40,000 Mississippi families over four years survive this recession.

Thanks for the support on clean-up
Just wanted to say Thank You to all the Sponsors and Vendors that came out to our Clean Up Day at Marion (which was part of Keep America Beautiful). I realize that trash is an ongoing issue and we couldn’t do the entire town in one day, but we had to start somewhere and we actually got 25 bags of trash and debris, cleaned up around the flower beds, and Town Hall and cleaned our Town Signs.
We have another set up for April 10. We hope to get the Fire Department and other Volunteers for that clean up day. Any questions please call the Town Hall and ask for Rita Rawson. Thanks again and hope to see you on our next clean up day.
Thanks Again!

Disappointed about actions of supervisors
I love to watch the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors meetings on television. I always wait for one of them to make a complete fool of himself. Boy, I wasn’t disappointed last week. Not only did he threaten, but he showed his true character. It just goes to prove the theory “Show me a little man and I’ll show you a big bully.” I wonder just how far that is going to get him?
