MERIDIAN —
1 JOHN 3:17 - “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” Praise belongs to God as every need in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 has been met. Thanks to everyone who has generously given over the years to change lives physically, financially, and spiritually. Each week I stand in awe of God as I witness God’s provision in our lives.
Today’s need concerns eight circumstances. The first need is a couple in their forties with three children. They were celebrating the wife being pregnant when the husband found out he was being laid off from work. This came as a shock since the husband had worked the same job for many years. With $472.98 we can provide rent and utilities as the husband looks for a new job.
The second need is a couple in their thirties with three young children. The wife’s income was drastically reduced this month due to company cut backs. With $364.22 we can provide utilities as this wife searches for a new job.
The third need is a young mother with two children. She is frantic because her utilities are about to be cut off. She is working all the hours she can, but unexpected expenses have her in a financial bind. The recent high temperatures have her worried about not having utilities because of the children. With $418.49 we can keep this young mother’s utilities on.
The fourth need is a man in his late thirties on dialysis. While his health was slowly becoming worse, his wife of many years left him. He has no family to turn to for help. With $464.31 we can provide rent and utilities for this man as he struggles with his health and his wife’s leaving.
The fifth need is a mother of three children who feels helpless. She began to have seizures making it impossible for her to drive. She is depending on others for all her transportation needs at this point. The seizures have also made it impossible for her to work the hours she worked before. With $417.65 we can keep her utilities on and enable her family to stay together in one home.
The sixth need is a young mother with four children. One of her children has been extremely sick causing her to miss many days of work. With $285.98 we can help with her rent as she returns to full time work.
The seventh need is an elderly gentleman in a state of depression due to the passing of his wife. He came looking for help with his finances because the wife had always maintained the bills. He has never asked for help before. With $322.10 we can help with his rent and utilities as he tries to move forward.
The eighth need is a couple in their forties with two children. The husband is not able to work due to recently injuring his leg. He will be able to return to work once he has surgery. They are trying to adjust to only having the wife’s income and a small check the husband is receiving. With $428.98 we can provide utilities as the man has surgery and returns to work. Thank you for allowing God to show provision for these needs through your prayers and giving.
For your information- Any story I write will be after an individual has been checked out through the Wesley House Clearing Procedure. Each individual must bring proof of I.D., pay stubs, tax records, and a social security number for each member of the household. In addition, any child over 18 must provide income information, copies of any outgoing bills, and proof of any subsidy such as food stamps, housing allowance, etc. There is an extensive application that proves who the people are and the situation they face. Phone calls are placed to verify employment and information provided. The money you give will go in full to the individual if you decide to help. God is so good, and thank you for being somebody God can use. Please pray for each story and see if God gives you the means to help. If God puts it on your heart, please do not use the excuse somebody else will take care of it because it might go undone.
