Today’s need — $3,066.35

MERIDIAN —     1 JOHN 3:17 - “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” Praise belongs to God as every need in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 has been met. Thanks to everyone who has generously given over the years to change lives physically, financially, and spiritually.  Each week I stand in awe of God as I witness God’s provision in our lives.

Today’s need concerns seven circumstances. The first need is a mother in her thirties with four children. She is trying her best to make ends meet but is finding it hard after being laid off two weeks ago. She has interviewed for a new job every day and is concerned her utilities are about to be cut off. With $425.40 we can provide utilities while she continues to look for a new job.

The second need is a young lady in her twenties who has been at the same job for several years.  Her hours have been cut at work as a result of new management.  She is currently looking for a second job to replace her reduced income. With $592.84 we can provide rent and utilities as she starts a second job.

The third need is a young couple with two children under the age of ten. They are concerned about losing their home during this hard financial struggle in their life. They are getting behind in their bills at an alarming rate as the husband looks for a second job. With $565.13 we can provide a mortgage payment and utilities as they stabilize their financial position.

The fourth need is a lady in her twenties who is frantic that her power and water are going to be cut off. She is worried about her child in a home with no utilities. Her child was sick this last month causing her to miss many days of work. With $300 we can provide utilities for this hard working and caring mother.

The fifth need is a lady in her fifties referred by a social worker when she was released from the hospital. She has several medical conditions causing infections and breathing problems. With $122.98 can provide her with the much needed medications to treat these problems.

The sixth need is a mother in her forties trying to finish college and work. Her goal is to graduate and provide a better life for her child. With $471 we can help pay her rent and utilities as she keeps her dream of being a college graduate alive.

The seventh need is a young lady in her twenties going to college, working, and taking care of her sick mother. She will soon graduate and hopes to find a better job to provide for her and her mother. With $589 we can provide a mortgage payment and utilities for this goal oriented young lady. Thank you for allowing God to show provision for these needs through your prayers and giving.

For your information- Any story I write will be after an individual has been checked out through the Wesley House Clearing Procedure. Each individual must bring proof of I.D., pay stubs, tax records, and a social security number for each member of the household. In addition, any child over 18 must provide income information, copies of any outgoing bills, and proof of any subsidy such as food stamps, housing allowance, etc.  There is an extensive application that proves who the people are and the situation they face. Phone calls are placed to verify employment and information provided. The money you give will go in full to the individual if you decide to help. God is so good, and thank you for being somebody God can use. Please pray for each story and see if God gives you the means to help. If God puts it on your heart, please do not use the excuse somebody else will take care of it because it might go undone.

Monday mornings at 7:15 we have a weekly segment on 1010 AM WMOX called the 1 John 3:17 segment. We will highlight the Today’s Need during the segment and take call ins for about thirty minutes for pledges. Please listen and call in 601-693-1010 or 601-693-1891 to help. You can also get updates by joining the 1 JOHN 3:17 Facebook page or the weekly email list. You can join the weekly email list by emailing “Add me” to trey@longwholesale.com. Checks can be made out to the Wesley House and mailed to Trey Long, PO BOX 664, Marion, MS 39342. Donations are tax deductible. Glory belongs to God as lives are changing physically, financially and spiritually.
