Anne B. McKee will hold a book signing from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, in the Grand Lobby of the MSU Riley Center for the launch of "Historic Photos of Mississippi."
McKee, a literary and performing artist wrote the text and photo captions for the book, filled with nearly 200 images. Contributing archives include Lauderdale County Mississippi History and Archives, Library of Congress, Mississippi Department of Archives and History and Moore's Boler's Inn Private Collection.
The book, published through Turner Publishing Company in Nashville, Tenn., is filled with vintage black and white photographs spanning Mississippi history in all of the state's regions. It retails for $39.95.
McKee said the book is a great keepsake and that doing research to write about the photographs was an enlightening journey.
"I learned so much," McKee said. "I am all about Mississippi. This has just been right up my alley."
McKee is listed on the Mississippi Artist Roster sponsored by the Mississippi Arts Commission. She writes a column for The Meridian Star and is a storyteller, humorist, public speaker, and writer. She also teaches school children through her program "Loving Mississippi," in which she uplifts the accomplishments of famous Mississippians.
