A series of black-and-white photographs by artist Tiffany McPeak is on exhibit at Aust Hall Art Gallery on the East Mississippi Community College’s Scooba campus. McPeak is a graphic designer at Naval Air Station Meridian, and teaches art classes at EMCC and Mississippi State University. An ongoing project, the photo series takes a look at objects usually considered “ugly” – but which reveal unexpected depths through the viewfinder of McPeak’s camera. The artist is inspired by her emotions, and thoughts of the world in which we live: “I see the beauty in things we discard.” The exhibit, called “White Trash,” will culminate with a reception Oct. 20, from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. McPeak attended MSU and the University of Memphis. A resident of Meridian since 2007, McPeak’s work has been exhibited at the Meridian Museum of Art, the University of Memphis and other art venues. EMCC’s Aust Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. until noon. For more information, call (662) 476-5133 or (662) 476-5136.
