Early morning armed robbery

MERIDIAN — A convenience store in Meridian was robbed at gunpoint early this morning and Meridian Police Department authorities are still searching for the suspect. Mike Vick, public information officer for the MPD, said at 4:45 a.m., the suspect, described only as a black male wearing blue jeans, a gray pullover jacket and wearing a black mask to cover his face, walked into the Dixie Oil Company location at 325 Highway 19 North and demanded money. Vick said the suspect was armed with a revolver. Vick said the suspect fled on foot in the direction of the nearby El Cheapo with an undetermined amount of cash. The clerk, said Vick, was unhurt. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
