Man dies from gunshot wounds

MERIDIAN — Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler confirmed minutes ago that a man shot earlier this evening has died. Cobler put the time of death at a local hospital at 6:33 p.m. Cobler said the shooting victim, whose name is being withheld until all relatives can be notified, was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the head. The shooting reportedly occurred around 6 p.m. in the area of 19th Street and 26th Avenue. More on this as details are confirmed.
