American flags wave as patrons park along Highway 45 South to pay their respect as the motorcade carrying the body of Army Sgt. Eric Newman makes its way to his home town of Waynesboro. Newman, assigned to the 1st Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C., died Oct. 14 in Akatzai Kalay, Afghanistan, of wounds he suffered when insurgents attacked his unit.
