MERIDIAN — The man who was shot and killed last night in Meridian has been identified by Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler as Randarious Smith, 22, of Meridian. Meridian Police Department Chief James Reed said officers were called at about 5:55 p.m. Monday to the 1800 block of 25th Avenue to a report of a shooting. When officers arrived they found Smith suffering from gunshots wounds. He was transported in serious condition and later died. Cobler said the time of death was 6:33 p.m. Reed said witnesses were being interviewed by detectives. Reed said detectives have a possible suspect and vehicle as a result of the preliminary investigation but no arrests have been made in the case. Officials said Smith was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the head.
